  • 1 tbsp oil

 For tempering:

  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 1 whole crushed garlic
  • 3 red chillies
  • 2 spoons mustard seeds
  • 1 chopped Onion
  • few curry leaves
  • 1 spoon ginger-garlic paste
  •  salt as per taste
  • 1 spoon Garam masala powder
  • ¼ Garam masala powder
  • ¼  cup chopped coriander leaves

 Preparation in Pressure Cooker:

  • In a pressure cooker, combine soaked moong dal, finely chopped tomatoes, chopped onion, green chillies, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, curry leaves, chopped coriander leaves, oil, and water.
  • Close the lid and cook for 3-4 whistles until the dal is tender and well-cooked.

 Tempering and Final Cooking

  • In a separate pan, heat 3 tablespoons of oil.
  • Add crushed garlic and fry until golden brown.
  • Next, add red chillies and mustard seeds. Fry until fragrant.
  • Incorporate the chopped onion and curry leaves. Sauté until the onion turns translucent.
  • Stir in ginger-garlic paste and fry until aromatic.
  • Transfer the cooked moong dal mixture to the pan.
  • Season with salt to taste and garam masala powder. Mix well.
  • Turn off the heat and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  • Cover the pan to allow the flavors to meld together.
